Captain Bowe Herman
Captain Herman grew up calling Lyons home and started volunteering with LFPD during his senior year of high school in 2015. He quickly became enamored by the fire service and wanted to make it a lifelong career. In 2019, he was lucky enough to be one of the first full-time firefighters at LFPD. A couple of his favorite things about the fire service are the relationships that he has built within the firehouse and the community. Secondly, he loves the problem-solving aspect of firefighting and never knows what challenges the next incident may bring.
Captain Kevin Boccolucci
Captain Boccolucci was born and raised in Western New York. He moved to Colorado in 1998 and established roots in Lyons, where he began his construction business. He married his high school sweetheart and now has a beautiful family and home in Lyons. He enjoys being outdoors, hunting, riding dirt bikes, and horseback riding with his family. He started as a volunteer firefighter with Lyons Fire and found a new calling in the fire service and helping the community of Lyons.
Captain Aaron Hickey
Captain Hickey has been with Lyons Fire since 2021 and has held the rank of volunteer, firefighter, and driver/operator before being promoted to the position of Company Officer in 2023. He holds an associates degree in Fire Science from AIMS Community College and has shown a keen interest in low angle technical rescue. Captain Hickey is also the department’s resident artist, and likes to sketch and paint, and may or may not have released a Christmas album under a pseudonym in 2024.
Captain Josh Thompson
Captain Thompson began firefighting with Gunnison County Airport as an Airport Rescue Team Firefighter. He worked there for four years before moving to the Sheriff Dive Team as a PADI Rescue Diver. In 1988, Captain Thompson continued firefighting as a volunteer firefighter with Pinewood Springs Fire Protection District, one of our mutual aid partners. In 2014, he began working as a volunteer firefighter with Lyons Fire and is very active in training and the Multi-Agency Peer Support (MAPS) Team. While not firefighting, Captain Thompson enjoys playing hockey and mountain biking around Colorado.
District Info
Lyons Fire Protection District is a combination fire department serving the town of Lyons, Colorado, and surrounding areas. We take pride in helping keep our community safe. Lyons Fire responds to a range of emergency incidents including structure fires, technical rescues, water and ice rescues, search and rescue, emergency medical services, hazardous materials incidents, natural disaster response, and wildland fires.
Lyons Fire coordinates emergency response from two fire stations.
Station 1:
Located in the town of Lyons, this is the primary station for Lyons Fire. Station 1 is staffed full-time and houses two fire engines, an ambulance, two wildland engines, a tactical water tender, and a swift water and ice rescue unit.
Station 2:
Located on County Road 37E, this is the secondary station for Lyons Fire. Station 2 houses a wildland engine, a water tender, a fire engine, and a utility vehicle. While this station is not staffed full-time, our volunteer firefighters often respond from this station.
The district responds to and is aided by other nearby agencies for many incidents. Lyons Fire will give help to or receive help from other agencies if an incident requires more resources than a single district can provide. Many incidents that occur on or near the fire district borders may also utilize mutual aid so that the fastest response is provided.
